93 2018 Anuário Brasileiro do Setor de Locação de Veículos Brazilian Vehicle Rental Sector Yearbook Traffic tickets and the Electronic Notification System D eveloped by Brazil’s National Transport Department (Denatran) as a technological solution produced by SERPRO, the Electronic Notification System - SNE - was updated in 2018, with improvements based on suggestions from users and from agencies that centralize fines throughout the country. SNE allows, for example, fleet administrators to get electronic traffic tickets with a discount of 40% (stipulated in Law 13,281, May 2016), provided that the driver does not appeal or contest the ticket. Iran Porto Júnior, director of operations at SERPRO, explains that the system works as a management tool for companies, as well as for private individuals. “The scope of real-time information attests to the evolution of SNE,” he says. The recent changes, says Porto Júnior, aid businesses in the automotive chain: rental companies, car dealers and automakers, “Because they can customise services,” he adds. The ease of use of the updated interface for managing payments is another benefit. On a more user-friendly platform, the system allows you to download the form which contains the data for the driver of the vehicle; it shows the details of each fine; enables acknowledgement and provides the payment bar code. The new version also includes innovations such as GPS communication, notification of arrival and expiration of fines. SNE is available for registration at www.sne. denatran.serpro.gov.br . Interested companies open an account and enter the data for their vehicles, indicating the license plates and codes, with authentication by digital certification.In the future, there is a plan to include improvements for fleet registration.
