In its unit in Ipiranga, São Paulo, the company assembled the Model T from imported parts. Two years later it opened a plant and moved to the Bom Retiro neighborhood, but in 1953 returned to Ipiranga. It was from this assembly line that the first Brazilian truck, the F-600, was produced. The family grew, with the Galaxie, the F-1000 pickup and the F-Series and Cargo truck lines. In 1967 Ford acquired the plant in São Bernardo do Campo (São Paulo state), producing the Corcel, Maverick, Del Rey, Pampa, Escort, Verona, Fiesta, and, currently, the Ka and Courier. At a time when the country was becoming one of the largest automotive producers in the world (in 2001), Ford opened the first car plant in the Northeast of Brazil, in Camaçari (Bahia state). The same site was used to house the South American Product Development Center. Ford turns 94 with four plants and an installed capacity of 350,000 vehicles and 500,000 engines a year. Em 1919, quando a Ford se instalou no Brasil, o País tinha pouco mais de 100 anos como Nação independente (desde 1822) e apenas 30 anos de Proclamação da República (em 1889). Nesta unidade, que operava no bairro Ipiranga, na capital paulista, a empresa montava o modelo T com peças importadas. Dois anos depois inaugurou sua fábrica e mudou para o bairro Bom Retiro, mas em 1953 retornou para o local de origem (Ipiranga). Foi da linha de montagem dessa fábrica que nasceu o primeiro caminhão brasileiro, o F-600. A família cresceu com o Galaxie, a picape F-1000 e as linhas de caminhões Série F e Cargo. Em 1967 a Ford adquiriu a fábrica de São Bernardo do Campo (SP) onde foram produzidos Corcel, Maverick, Del Rey, Pampa, Escort, Verona, Fiesta e os atuais Ka e Courier. Num período em que o país já despontava como um dos maiores parques automotivos do mundo (em 2001) a Ford inaugurou a primeira fábrica de automóveis na Região Nordeste, estabelecida em Camaçari (BA). No mesmo local foi criado o Centro de Desenvolvimento do Produto da América do Sul. A Ford chega aos 94 anos com quatro fábricas e capacidade instalada para produzir 350 mil veículos e 500 mil motores.
