Divulgação ABLA W e have been monitoring mergers and acquisitions in different sectors of the economy in the last de- cade, in which competitors have joined together or been acquired by other companies. In general, the reasons given by the organizations involved in these mergers and acquisitions were main- ly cost reduction, scale and synergy. We have seen the creation of Itaú-Unibanco, ABN-Real-Santand- er, Bradesco-BCN, LAN-TAM, Air France-KLM and Lufthansa-Swiss, among many other examples. More recently, in the vehicle rental sector, we have seen Localiza-Hertz, Locamerica-Unidas, and so on ... In unions and federations these synergies will be no different because labor reform has made trade union contributions optional, encouraging industry represen- tatives to pool resources and knowledge. ABLA, which was founded in 1977, has played its role as a legal representative of the sector national- ly and its members and leaders decided to create FENALOC to take on this specific function. FENALOC was welcomed by the National Transport Confedera- tion (CNT) and, together, we are working to defend the rights of the sector. Whether in Congress, at the Federal Supreme Tri- bunal or the Ministry of Labor and Employment, we are representing the vehicle rental sector, within the prin- ciple of the defense of private initiative, which invests, employs people and contributes to the development of Brazil. Together, and stronger than ever, ABLA, FENALOC and the SINDLOCS complete each other and support the vehicle rental companies throughout Brazil. Our members train, defend and represent our sector, be- ing complementary and negotiating the best for rental companies, commercially or politically speaking. Moreover, this current market in constant evolu- tion also drives us to adapt to technological change so that we are not swallowed up by it. For example, apps will maximize vehicle use, so we need to use this to increase the use of our fleets. Sharing is now a reality but rental companies were the first to provide vehicles for according to people’s needs. As the Lebanese poet Gibran Khalil Gibran said, “The temple is only standing and firm because its pillars are separate.” In the same way, our sector remains firm and strong with its pillars of action, which are the entities in the sector, offering support and mak- ing rental companies great.  Labor reform has made trade union contributions optional, encouraging representatives of the sector to pool resources and knowledge
