The car rental industry in early March 2015 achieved a major

victory in its history in Brazil, with the publication in the Official Gazette

of the granting of trade union registration to the National Automotive

Vehicle Rental Company Federation (FENALOC).

The granting of this Federal Charter to FENALOC is an unprecedented

expansion of the representativeness of the vehicle rental industry, which

is already represented at the National Traffic Department (DENATRAN),

the National Tourism Council and several other economically and

politically important bodies.

Now, the sector is even stronger and has more bargaining power

with the Government and other public authorities, as FENALOC is

officially registered.

Paulo Gaba Jr., president of FENALOC, says that we must

remember to thank all those who, for about five years, dedicated their

time, their knowledge, their efforts and experience, free of charge,

to create FENALOC. “And to all the rental companies in Brazil, our

congratulations on this great achievement,” he adds.

FENALOC, which brings together industry associations in the

sector and is linked to the National Transport Confederation (CNT), will

consolidate dialogue with government agencies and authorities and,

in parallel, will also work to promote the development, growth and the

integration of unions in the sector.

Paulo Gaba says the vehicle rental industry has evolved

significantly, both in terms of fleet volume and its work with tourism

and transport companies. “Certainly, because of this we will have

a full agenda in the coming years, both in Brasília and in each

state of the Federation”, says the president. “We will encourage

union, sharing responsibilities, and we intend to have all the unions

collaborating effectively and together in a true spirit of federal

culture,” he concludes.
