anuário brasileiro do setor de locação de veículos 2016 66 Alarico Assumpção Júnior, at age 61, has been in FENABRAVE for 21 years already and, between 2009 and 2014, held the executive presidency of the organization. He has already presided also the Deliberative Board and Executive Directory of the Brazilian Association of Volvo Distributors (ABRAVO) from 1992 to 2004, and was the Deliberative Adviser of FENABRAVE during the same period. Alarico has been working on the segment since he was 14 years old and today, besides the Federation, he is also superintendent director at the Stakeholders Board of the Holding Deriva Participações S/A (Grupo Suécia), owner of dealerships Suécia Veículos S/A (Volvo), Viking-Center - Heavy duty used vehicles, Suécia - Tarumã Bridgestone Pneus, Tarumã Bandag (BTS), Urca Motors Veículos Ltda (Hyundai), Urca Imports (Imported Hyundai), Urca Automóveis (Honda), and Juruá Empreendimentos. It’s a total of 25 companies, including the brands distributed in the States of Tocantins, Goiás, Distrito Federal and Minas Gerais. Born in the town of Araguari, in the State of Minas Gerais, he now talks about the institutional importance of FENABRAVE in Brazilian scenario. ABLA: How is FENABRAVE composed in institutional terms, its directories, executive posts, etc.? Alarico Assumpção Júnior: FENABRAVE was founded in 1965 and, so, it will complete 51 years of existence in March 2016. It was created with the objective of being the legitimate political representative of the Vehicle Distribution Sector in Brazil - which is composed by 7,6 thousand dealerships which operate in the segments of cars and light utility vehicles, trucks, buses and road implements, motorcycles, tractors and agricultural machinery. The Federation relates with congenerous national and international organizations, the Government, opinion leaders and the general public in favor of the economic category it represents. It’s worth highlighting that, today, the Vehicle Distribution Sector in Brazil represents 5,2% of the national GDP and responds for the direct generation of more than 370 thousand jobs. In its structure, FENABRAVE counts on a President and its Executive Directory (composed by 12 vice-presidents), Deliberative Board (Presidents of the 51 Brand Associations affiliated), Regional Board (composed by 23 regional offices) and its internal administrative structure, besides external advisement in strategical areas. Besides FENABRAVE, there is FENACODIV (from Portuguese, the National Federation of Vehicle Dealerships), employers’ union extension supported by the “Sincodiv´s”, employers’ unions of the category, spread all over the country. ABLA: What would you say is the main role of the organization in the national context? AAJ: The main role of FENABRAVE, within the national context, is to reThe voice of vehicle distribution present the Vehicle Distribution Sector before the many players, guiding the political and entrepreneurial development of the category, preserving the legal, political, social and economical balance of the dealerships and strengthening the basis of the market so that the investments made by these entrepreneurs are preserved, as well as the jobs and wealth generated in favor of the country as a whole. ABLA: How does the organization perform this role? AAJ: Strongly acting with congenerous organizations, national and international, in partnerships and constant negotiations with the aim of stimulating and balancing the vehicle market, representing, before the Government, the benefits and debates generated by the category of Automotive Distribution, stressing its importance for the generation of jobs and wealth in the country. ABLA: How does FENABRAVE relate with its partners in the sector? AAJ: FENABRAVE, as already said, strongly relates with congenerous partners and organizations, in search of joint actions to strengthen the whole automotive market and Brazil. The foundations for this advantageous relationship are, among others, the mutual respect and the extreme transparency - what has been resulting in stable and long lasting partnerships, besides very positive for all. ABLA: What is the importance of the Institution in the national scenario? AAJ: FENABRAVE congregates one of the sectors considered of fundamental importance for the economic and social scenario in Brazil and it would be much more complicated if each brand, from each automotive segment, would have to mobilize, with the same interlocutors, aiming its own representation. The organization becomes, thus, the “Voice of Vehicle Distribution in Brazil”, representing all brands and segments, all brand associations and their affiliated dealerships and that translates its importance, considering the participation and representation of the sector in the national context. ABLA: Could you comment on the relationship with ABLA, the importance of it, specific actions, etc.? AAJ: FENABRAVE has, in relation to the Car Rental Sector, the highest respect and believes that the relationship must always be based on partnership. This way, we have been relating very well with the organizations that represent this branch and so it happens with ABLA, with whom we have established an open, frank and very positive dialogue.
