Founded 82 years ago, the Spanish insurance company Mapfre
began its operations in Brazil in 1992, when it bought Vera Cruz. In
June 2011 it struck a partnership with BB Seguros (owned by Banco
do Brasil), creating Grupo Segurador Banco do Brasil Mapfre. “It is the
largest insurer in its field,” says Sérgio Barros, automobile director at
Grupo BB e Mapfre.
In the vehicle segment the company has an insured fleet of
2.5 million units. “The group offers several insurance solutions in
automobiles, motorcycles and trucks. The policies offer coverage that
goes beyond the traditional areas of fire, theft, and civil liability (material,
bodily, moral and aesthetic damage). Assistance services are free,
available 24 hours a day and are valid for the vehicle and for the insured
party’s home,” says Barros.
Barros goes on to talk about the unique vehicle insurance client
support structure offered through 63 Specialized Quick Service Units
(P.A.R.E.) throughout Brazil. “P.A.R.E. provides reserve cars and all the
support and guidance necessary in cases of robbery, theft and other
occurrences,” Barros adds.
Barroso says of the company’s operations in the rental segment,
“Grupo BB e Mapfre is the leader in the rental fleet category, with more
than 300,000 vehicles insured. Our special conditions apply match the
needs of each fleet, ranging from an appropriate price for the liability to
be assumed to an online claims service (with online assessment using
images, speeding up the vehicle repair timeframe) and personalized 24-
hour call center services,” says Barros.
According to Barros, the company’s expertise in the rental sector
stems from years of experience and its large number of client companies.
“We serve many of the country’s largest car rental companies with high
level of service,” he says. He adds, “To have achieved this standard of
excellence, we developed strong partnerships requiring new solutions
for each client’s specific operations.
Among the benefits that we have are different coverage tailored to
each car rental company’s size, and operational processes that support
each type of operation. We know that the best coverage for the rental
company becomes the best solution for renters,” he explains.
Group BB e Mapfre also focuses on fully understanding the needs
of rental companies and providing the best technical and operational
solution for their business. “We do not have default coverage, such as
minimums or maximums, but we always seek to offer our expertise,
suggesting the best coverage for each situation. As we are a large
insurance company, we are able to assume all the risks and operate
throughout the country, which is why we have so much flexibility in the
solution provided,” Barros concludes.
Grupo BB e Mapfre employs over 6,000 people and has 160,000
points of sale. In 2013 it grew by 24% year on year, with premiums of
R$ 14 billion..
Thinking rental

Atualmente o Grupo BB e Mapfre con-
ta com mais de 6 mil colaboradores e 160
mil pontos de vendas. Em 2013, cresceu
24% (em relação a 2012) e totalizou R$ 14
bilhões em prêmios.
